This seal is located between the oil cooler and the engine block. Over time, the original o-ring becomes flattened, hard, and brittle, giving rise to oil leaks.
When installing a new o-ring, RTV silicone is NOT necessary. All mating surfaces should be clean and free of debris prior to installation.
Please note the new seal may appear thicker and larger than the original/old seal. This is normal, and the new seal should fit perfectly. The old seal will appear thinner and smaller due to shrinkage/compression from age and heat.
